Latch

FAQ

Questions, meet answers.

Latch is still being built. Here is what we know, what we are planning, and what we are not claiming yet.

What is Latch?+

Latch is a pre-launch screen-time app that lets you earn temporary access to distracting apps by completing short learning reps.

Is Latch available yet?+

Not yet. Latch is being developed for iOS. Join the waitlist for launch updates and possible early access.

What platforms will it support?+

The first target is iPhone, using Apple’s Screen Time APIs. Android may come later, but it is not currently supported.

How is it different from Opal, Brick, one sec, or ScreenZen?+

Those tools introduce different kinds of blocking or friction. Latch’s distinctive mechanic is a learning-based unlock: short questions from subjects you care about become the way through.

Can I choose what I study?+

Yes. Planned tracks include pandas, Python, economics, Japanese, finance, history, and custom revision material.

Can I choose easy questions?+

Users choose subjects and goals, but not difficulty directly. Latch infers difficulty from performance so users cannot reward-hack the unlock flow by always choosing easy questions.

Will it work offline?+

The core experience is designed to. Blocking, question selection, grading, adaptation, and temporary unlocks are intended to work on-device.

What will be paid?+

The free tier is planned as a useful blocker. Pro will focus on customisation and learning value, including planned custom AI courses, expanded packs, advanced personalisation, sync, and backup.

Will Android be supported?+

Possibly later. Latch is focused on iOS first, and there is no Android version at present.
